So, Facebook ditch support for IE6, Amazon start phasing it out, YouTube ends support? This isn’t really going to have much of an impact on users dumping IE6 for IE7/8, Chrome, Firefox et al.
These days, most people using IE6 (in the Western world at least) are in big corporations whose IT departments haven’t rolled out an upgrade, be it for reasons of legacy system support, security, familiarity or because they’re just backward and mean!
These are the same corporations that block users from visiting sites such as Facebook and YouTube, so now they don’t have to – the sites are doing it for them! Removing support for IE6 just adds another reason for these IT departments to hold off from upgrading.
